At the centre of the Special Nature Reserve of the Bessa, on the moraine of the Serra, there are the great Roman aurifodines, which were active between the II and the I century BC: an artificial landscape dominated by huge mounds of stones for the selection of material rich in alluvial gold.
The Ecomuseum of Gold and Bessa collects and documents the manual techniques used over the centuries for hunting gold, taking visitors on archaeological excursions and searching for the precious metal along the Elvo stream.
