Three stages of the Via Francigena, the path that connects Northern Europe to Rome, are located right in the heart of the Slowland scenario.
Stage 7 joins Ivrea to Viverone. On the way, there are two splendid little churches: San Pietro, near Bollengo, and the Romanesque church “Gesiun”. Don’t miss the sights of the countryside, the splendid views overlooking Lake Viverone and the many dining options.
Stage 8 connects Viverone to Santhià. The first place you will cross is Roppolo, from where you can see the view of the morainic amphitheatre of Ivrea. It then continues to Cavaglià, where you can visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Babilone.
Stage 9 will take you from Santhià to Vercelli. This stretch of the path, which is mostly on country roads, is characterized by the numerous rice fields of the Vercelli setting.
